“Back to the future”
“Our goal at Florida Tile is
prosperity for our customers, our investors, and our
employees. However you define it, prosperity is easy to talk
about, but tough to deliver, especially in today’s ultra
competitive marketplace. We will begin to deliver that
prosperity by examining what made Florida Tile the
number one brand of ceramic tile in the eyes of the
consumer, and all of our customers.
Part of what made Florida Tile
great is it’s wonderful legacy as an independent company
conceived and managed by a great entrepreneur, Jimmie Sikes
who loved the industry, the company, the products, the
customers and the employees. I never met Jimmie, but I know
what type of person he was from my interaction with the many
great employees who are still here and part of that legacy.
They tell me that Jimmie was independent, made decisions
easily, and had a great instinct for the industry.
Many of you may already know that
Florida Tile was recently acquired by
Milestone Merchant
Partners, a private investment group based in Washington,
DC. That means that Florida Tile is now a
stand alone independent business (and not owned by a corporate
conglomerate) again. That also means that like in the old days we
need to be light on our feet, make decisions quickly and
be more connected to the market…like before.
You will see a more
competitive, independent and agile Florida Tile
in the future. We don’t have Jimmie, but we’ve put together
a great team that can think clearly and act quickly to bring
prosperity to our customers, investors and
employees.
I look
forward to working with each of you in the market place.
Best regards,
Buck
Burwell, CEO
