Since Pietra Art Pebbles are a natural stone product, no claims will be accepted for variations in shade or appearance.

• To maximize the life of any natural stone floor, regular application of a water based penetrating sealer is recommended.

• PietraArt products are 100% natural stone quarried from mines of solid stone. These stones are then cut and readied for the flooring market. No two pieces of natural stone are  exactly alike. Although we make every effort to ensure consistent color variation, there is a large window of variation that is completely inherent in the production and distribution of natural stone products. This variation is what gives natural stone products their distinctive appeal. No two installations will look quite the same. Each will have its own unique look and feel due to the uniqueness of each and every piece of “tile” used.

Installation and Care Guide - Pebbles

Florida Tile’s Pebble products are mosaics made from natural pebbles which

have been polished and mounted into sheets for ease of installation.  They can act as an accent in a traditional stone or ceramic installation or be used as a stand-alone floor, counter-top, or pool deck.  They are also a good choice outdoors or around a fireplace.  No two stones or sheets look exactly alike and care must be taken to mix from different boxes and pallets during the installation.

Preparation and Installation:

1. Check pebbles for signs of algae or yellow discoloration.  Wetting the stones and placing them in direct sunlight for 8 hours will remedy these conditions.

2. Sort tiles before installing to ensure an even color layout.

3. Follow standard practices for substrates and use a waterproof membrane if installing in locations with the possibility of standing water.

4. A latex modified thinset mortar is the recommended adhesive for these products and should be used with a 1/4” notched trowel. 

5. For vertical surfaces, a faster drying polymer based adhesive can be used.

6. To minimize the appearance of gaps at the joints, stagger the sheets from one row to the next and butt the sheets tightly together.

7. Pebbles must be firmly seated into the setting bed but not pressed deeply into the adhesive.

8. These stones are porous and should be sealed prior to and after grouting with a penetrating stone sealer.

9. The mesh on the sheets can be cut to fit with a utility knife, the stones can be cut with a tile saw.

10. Flat pebble products can be grouted with sanded water based or latex modified grout as needed.  Grouting for the standing pebble items is optional.

Cleaning:

1. Pebbles should be sealed before and after grouting and every 2-3 years thereafter with a penetrating stone sealer.

2. Routine cleaning can be done with neutral, mild detergents and a stiff bristled brush.

3. For deep cleaning, a vinegar or 10% hydrochloric acid solution mixed with water can be used.  Apply with a stiff bristled brush and rinse thoroughly with water after cleaning.
